Sunday Grey

January 2, 2012

It’s awesome when a project gets to the point where you can lay paint down. All the welding, grinding, sanding and drilling is done and now its time to make things shiney. Today Sam came down and we sprayed some paint on the inside of his spec car as well as under the hood. The last week or two has been prepping everything and taping up the rollcage, masking off the body panels to keep off the overspray and cleaning all the dust and dirt out of all the corners in the cabin. So this morning i loaded up the gun and we strapped on some paint masks and i started spraying everything. A few hours and three coats later she was grey, well SchwartzGrau to be correct. Getting paint all in the corners and edges while working around a rollcage is a real pain, but the result is excellent. After the paint was reasonably dry we untaped much of the car and it looks like i did a half way decent job covering everything up, cant wait to see it when the rollcage is untaped but thats going to be after the body is painted- dont want any overspray on the cage now.
